Frequently asked questions

Yes. Catching more waves comes down to paddle strength, endurance and a fast, smooth pop-up, and all three can be trained out of the water. Level Up Surf Coaching’s surf training program builds the shoulder strength, core stability and explosive power you need to paddle into waves earlier and get to your feet quicker. Because you can train between sessions, you improve even when the surf is flat.
-
A normal gym routine trains general fitness. Surf training targets what surfing actually demands: paddling endurance, explosive pop-ups, balance, rotation and flexibility. Every exercise has a reason tied to your surfing, so you build strength that shows up in the water instead of just in the gym. You also get a structured plan from a surf coach, so you’re not guessing what to do next.
-
Every month you get 8 workouts to choose from, across different levels. The workouts focus on paddling strength, Leg power, pop-up speed, core stability, mobility and balance. Included is also a morning routine, evening routine and surf warm-up. You also get follow-along yoga classes taught by a certified yoga teacher and physiotherapist.

The Level Up surf training program costs just €39.99 per month with a monthly subscription, or €27.99 per month with a yearly subscription, which is 30% cheaper. Every month you get 8 workouts to choose from, across different levels, and all 8 are updated every month for 12 months straight, so your training always stays fresh. All workouts are easy-to-follow videos, and you plan them yourself, so the program fits your own schedule. You also get access to an extensive meal plan with hundreds of meals, and you can track your calories in the app. You can connect your wearables to track your progress, and you get coaching support through a private chat with a real surf coach and professional trainer.

Yes. The Level Up surf training program has workouts for different levels, so beginners can start with easier workouts and build up at their own pace. Every workout is an easy-to-follow video, and you can ask your surf coach questions through the private chat if you’re unsure about an exercise. You don’t need any previous gym or surf experience.
-
No. The program is built for surfers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Every exercise has options that make it easier or harder, so you start at your own level and progress from there. You don’t need to surf regularly, and you don’t need previous gym experience.
-
Absolutely. Intermediate and advanced surfers benefit from surf-specific training because it builds the strength, power and endurance that surfing demands, which you can’t build in the water alone. The program includes more challenging workouts for higher levels, and with the monthly updates your training keeps progressing as you do!
-
Most surfers notice they can paddle longer without getting tired, pop up faster and feel more stable on their board within 8 weeks. You’ll also have more energy for longer sessions and recover better afterwards. Results depend on how consistently you train, so stick with the recommended workouts per week by your coach and you’ll see the biggest gains.
-
Yes. All 8 workouts are updated every month for 12 months straight, so you always have fresh training sessions and you never repeat the same routine. Because the workouts come in different levels, you can move up as you get stronger.
-
Most surfers get good results with 2 to 3 workouts per week, at 30 to 45 minutes each. Because you plan the workouts yourself, you can do more in weeks when you can’t surf and less when you’re in the water a lot. Consistency matters more than volume.
-
No gym is needed. The workouts can be done at home with no equipment / minimal equipment, such as a resistance band, pull up bar and a pair of dumbbells. If some workouts use extra equipment it is always mentioned at the start of every workout video. Many workouts are also done without any equipment at all.
-
Yes. All workouts are on-demand videos, so you can train whenever and wherever you want. You plan every workout yourself, which makes it easy to fit training around your work, your family and the surf forecast.
-
Yes, and this is exactly who the program is great for. The workouts are done online, wherever you are, with no equipment or minimal equipment. Surf-specific strength, mobility and endurance training builds the fitness you need, so every session in the water counts for more when you do get to surf.
-
Yes. You get coaching support through a private chat with a real surf coach and professional trainer. You can ask questions about your training, get advice on your surfing and get help adjusting workouts to your level.
-
Yes. The Level Up Physical Screening measures where you are when you start, so you can see how much you improve over time. After the screening, your coach helps you choose which workouts to focus on and tracks your progress with you. That way your training targets your weak spots instead of being generic.
-
Yes. Strong shoulders, hips, core and back, along with good mobility, help protect the areas surfers injure most. The program was designed by a surf coach who is also a personal trainer experienced in helping surfers through injuries, and the yoga classes are taught by a physiotherapist. If you’re currently injured, check with your doctor or physio before you start, and adjust or skip any exercise that doesn’t feel right.
-
No. The Level Up surf training program focuses on strength, mobility, endurance and fitness, so you build the physical base your surfing needs. It doesn’t teach surf technique like the pop-up, cutback or duck diving. For that, check out The Surf Technique Blueprint, an online surf technique course that explains every technique step by step. The two work well together.
